Alzheimer's disease..............it's everybody's business!

Today 1 in 7 Canadians is 65 years of age or older. In just 25 years, nearly 1 in 4 Canadians will be a senior and it is expected that over 1.1 million Canadians will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. In honour of National Seniors Day October 1st become a champion of change.

The United Nations summit on Non Communicable Disease (NCD Summit) has adopted a Declaration that includes Alzheimer's disease as a global health issue. Adding dementia to health planning effort at the country and World Health Organization level is a major leap forward! For more information, see the United Nations website.

Today, 181,000 Ontarians have dementia

The annual total economic burden (including direct, indirect and opportunity costs) of dementia in Ontario is expected to increase by more than $770 million per year through 2020.
